Dear Friends and neighbors,

I’m honored to inform you that I have officially announced my candidacy for State Representative.

I’ve had the pleasure of serving on the Coventry Town Council for four years from 2000 to 2004; and in that time, I’m proud to have built a solid record of accomplishments.

·         I worked with the Tiogue Lake Association to protect the lake by establishing an ambitious plan to eradicate invasive weeds.  Also the Tiogue Lake Spillway was opened allowing the run-off of harmful surface contaminates as well as protecting the dam in the event of a storm surge.

·         The operating budget’s reliance on the reserve fund was reduced by over 200%

·         I drafted and passed the towns Dirtbike/ATV Ordinance placing stiff fines on those using these vehicles on private property without permission.

I am most proud of the bipartisan vote to enter into an agreement with the Amgen Corporation to bring a municipal sewer system to this town.  As Chairman of the Sewer Subcommittee, I assure you that we are making every effort to minimize the nuisance caused by the construction and we anticipate that the roads will be restored very soon.  From the beginning, we knew that sewers were going to be the catalyst for economic development and the unprecedented business growth on Tiogue Ave is living proof.

This election, the stakes couldn’t be higher.  The voters have a chance to effect real change on a national and a state level.  Today, our living costs are being pushed to the breaking point.  Gasoline and home heating oil prices are skyrocketing, the jobless rate is growing, and confidence in all types of government is waning.

There is one thing that is undeniable; the status quo isn’t working.  These problems are not new and were not created yesterday.  The state is heading down the wrong path and it’s time to make a change.

To quote Albert Einstein, We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”  I will be the State Representative who will provide new energy, creative ideas, and a unique perspective.

·         We need to reshape the state’s economic policy with practical cuts and a long-term plan for economic development.

·         I’ll protect the interests of Coventry’s senior citizen and veteran population.

·         I’m committed to safeguarding our environment and open spaces.

 ·         I support exploring alternative, renewable energy initiatives.

Over the years, I have been grateful for the support of my friends and colleagues.  With your vote, I can work towards a better Coventry and Rhode Island.  For more information call 826-0778 or e-mail me at BillHallRep28@aol.com  Thanks for your support.

                                                                                                            Sincerely,

                                                                                                                 Bill
